Wineries and Cellar Doors
Please, before you venture into the larger commercial wineries check out some of the vineyards and cellar door in the local area. We have some of the best kept secrets in the Hunter.
See the beautiful Provencal style gardens complete with urns and fountains at Krinklewood Vineyard (try their Lucia Dessert Wine and the Francesca Rosé, they are both wonderful). Have a game of Bocce and visit the Manse at Catherine Vale . Get Craig to tempt you with the infamous Gail Force Port and award winning Shiraz at Nightingales or enjoy lunch or dinner at their restaurant looking over the vines.
Visit the old dairy and cow shed with great ambience at Mount Broke Wines or enjoy a champagne breakfast or dine looking over home block vineyard and Yellow Rock and taste the wonderful wines at Margan Wines in the brand new restaurant and cellar door (we had Margan wines at our wedding so it is a favorite of ours).
Whispering Brook wines are featured by the Sofitel Sydney Wentworth in their ‘New Discovery’ wine flights, and are available at their beautiful new cellar door and winery. Brokes Promise has opened their cellar door and Fine Art Gallery with fantastic sculptures by Samuel Re. Elsmore wines offer an intimate wine tasting experience and Elysium is great for Verdelho. Broke Estate and its lovingly restored original settlers cottage is also worth a visit.
Dont forget to visit Pooles Rock when you head to Pokolbin and there are also some good local wines available through the Broke village Store or by appoinment tastings. Wattlebrook vineyard, Lavender Ridge and Elsmore’s Caprera Grove can be be contacted to arrange tastings.
